Position description

The University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine invites applications for a full-time position. The academic appointment will be at the level of Associate or Full Professor of Clinical Pathology in the Clinical X series, which confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate. The position is part of a research-focused Cluster Hire in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy involving multiple faculty recruitments, including other physician-scientists. Accordingly, the department seeks an MD or MD-PhD board-certified hematopathologist with outstanding clinical skills and an established research program to collaborate and lead research projects with other Cluster members. Departmental leadership roles aligned with candidate interests are also anticipated. To help achieve these goals, the Cluster will leverage existing resources and strengths of UCI Health and its campus partners, including the NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cancer Research Institute, Center for Complex Biological Systems, the Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center, and graduate training programs in cancer biology, stem cell biology, systems biology, and other biomedical sciences.

As a leader in the Department, the successful recruit will also have the interpersonal and administrative skills to effectively coordinate with other faculty and staff in research, clinical, and teaching activities. Clinical licensure and board certification in hematopathology, as well as current signout responsibility in hematopathology, are expected. Departmental teaching and mentoring activities may involve medical students, graduate students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and expectations. Candidates should upload their curriculum vitae, statements (research, teaching, and diversity), reference information, and additional items to UCI Recruit: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/apply/JPF04503.
