Postdoctoral Scholar Position

The statistical machine learning group led by Professor Stephan Mandt works at the forefront of research in probabilistic modeling, Bayesian deep learning, and approximate inference with applications in the natural sciences and digital media. Recent results include numerous publications in the proceedings of ICML, NIPS, AISTATS, UAI, CVPR, CoNLL, as well as in JMLR and MLJ.

We anticipate that one full-time Post-doctoral Scholar position will become available soon and are looking for capable candidates to join our team. The appointment will be for one year and may be renewable if funding permits. The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Theoretical Physics, or a related quantitative field. Expertise in statistical machine learning is required, demonstrated by at least three top-tier publications in some of the aforementioned core machine learning conferences. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated experience in variational inference, Bayesian representation learning, knowledge representation, and/or interdisciplinary research in physics and machine learning.

Salary to be between $65,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates without experience and top publications in the area of probabilistic machine learning are not encouraged to apply.
