Description

Microbial Pathogenesis and Host-Pathogen Interactions

Post-doctoral scholar positions (Ph.D.) funded by NIH are available immediately to study Chlamydia, the most commonly reported cause of infectious disease in the U.S. These projects are a collaboration between Dr. Christine Suetterlin (Department of Developmental and Cell Biology) and Dr. Ming Tan (Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics).

Research areas:
Host-pathogen interactions: mechanisms by which Chlamydia dysregulates the centrosome, cilia, cell cycle and intracellular trafficking of the infected host cell.

Developmental regulation of the intracellular Chlamydia infection: how bacterial cell size and temporal gene expression control the timing of chlamydial differentiation.

Experience in cellular microbiology, cell biology, transcriptional regulation and microscopy would be advantageous.

Application procedure:
Please include your CV and a cover letter that includes a synopsis of previous research experience, specific interests in the ongoing work and contact information for three references to the following URL:
