The Dance Department at the University of California, Irvine is accepting applications for a part-time instructor to teach undergraduate and graduate level technique courses during the 2018-19 academic year in Lar Lubovitch repertory. The successful candidate may also be asked to teach other dance courses including Modern Dance and Dance Performance, choreography, assist with rehearsals and preparations for performances. Appointment is contingent upon department needs and funding. All candidates should have in-depth knowledge and performing experience in Lar Lubovitch repertory, university teaching experience. Professional experience in the field and/or M.F.A./M.A. in Dance preferred.
Title: Part-time Lecturer in Dance
SALARY and START DATE: This is a part-time position and may be hired for partial quarters, beginning January 2019. Compensation will be based on the number of courses taught per quarter and the number of weeks of instruction based on an annual rate of $54,738.
Qualifications: Relevant combination of education, university teaching and/or professional experience in the field. Experience with Lubovitch repertory
Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing and teaching Lar Lubovitch repertory, one or more quarters/semesters of teaching experience at an institution of higher education. relevant master’s degree or higher in Dance

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Claire Trevor School of the Arts, Department of Dance at the University of California, Irvine enrolls 165 undergraduate dance majors and 20 graduate students in B.A., B.F.A., and M.F.A. degrees in Dance. The department, with 15 full-time and several part-time faculty, has been recognized as one of the nation’s outstanding dance programs. UCI alumni have danced with professional dance companies, in film and television, on Broadway, in national tours, and are employed as university dance faculty nationwide and internationally. The department’s facilities include six dance studios, a motion capture studio, and a Dancer Wellness/ Pilates Suite. Students perform in three theatres (including an Experimental Media Performance Lab) and participate in collaborative telematic projects.
