Position description

The Department of Dance at University of California, Irvine is accepting applications for a part-time instructor to teach undergraduate and graduate level modern technique courses. The successful candidate has in-depth knowledge and university teaching experience in one or more codified modern techniques such as Cunningham, Horton, Graham, Dunham, Limón, or Taylor. M.F.A./M.A. in dance or equivalent professional experience in the field required. More than one year of university level teaching experience, and significant professional dance experience preferred.

This is a part-time position for all or part of Spring Quarter 2019. The quarterly full time rate is $18,246. The actual salary for this part-time position will be determined by instructional need.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Claire Trevor School of the Arts, Department of Dance at the University of California, Irvine enrolls 165 undergraduate dance majors and 20 graduate students in B.A., B.F.A., and M.F.A. degrees in Dance. The department, with 15 full-time and several part-time faculty, has been recognized as one of the nation’s outstanding dance programs. UCI alumni have danced with professional dance companies, in film and television, on Broadway, in national tours, and are employed as university dance faculty nationwide and internationally. The department’s facilities include six dance studios, a motion capture studio, and a Dancer Wellness/ Pilates Suite. Students perform in three theatres (including an Experimental Media Performance Lab) and participate in collaborative telematic projects.
