Position description

The Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention, Program in Public Health at the University of California-Irvine seeks a Junior Specialist for research to examine epidemiology of gastrointestinal cancer.

We are seeking to hire a highly motivated, dedicated individual who has excellent organization, time management and communication skills, and understands cancer etiology and survivorship in gastrointesitnal cancers. This person will 1) analyze data collected from the cohort studies or cancer registries using the statistical software, e.g., SAS; 2) work closely with the principal investigator to design the study, collect data from different resources, analyze the data and draft reports of results and manuscript; and 3) maintain project documentation and schedule. This position is offered at a 100% time appointment from July 1st, 2019 to September, 30th, 2019.

Requirements: 1) Master degree with major in epidemiology or/and biostatistics, 2) Experience on analyzing big databases using statistical software including SAS, Stata or R; Familiar with multivariate linear regression, logistic regression, Cox regression etc; 3) Ability of quick learning, excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills;4) Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management; 4) Strong teamwork skills. Prior experience in biology, gastrointestinal cancer epidemiology and cancer survivorship research is a merit.

This position is grant funded. Position is renewable, contingent on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
