Position description

The Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention, Program in Public Health at the University of California-Irvine seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar with expertise in environmental exposure modeling. The Postdoctoral Scholar is expected to use data from government-based monitoring data, satellite measurements, spatiotemporal data from various sources including images to study individual-level environmental exposures of air pollution, meteorology, noise, and built environment for human subjects in multiple epidemiological studies.

The candidates must hold a Ph.D. in one of the following areas: environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, environmental epidemiology, geographical information system (GIS), computer science, or equivalent. The candidate must have strong understanding of GIS applications in environmental exposure assessment and machine learning methods, excellent data analysis/programing skills in R and/or python, excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English, and ability to work independently with proper supervision. They must also have demonstrated publication record in environmental exposure assessment and have the ability to take initiative, creativity, attention to details and commitment to producing high quality work.
