Position description

Position: Postdoctoral Scholar

A postdoctoral position is available at the University of California at Irvine (UCI), the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2).
This position will be exploring the unique properties of Carbon Nanotubes and advancing the field carbon electronics research. The goal is to demonstrate highly linear and power efficient RF Field Effect Transistors (FETs) based on the intrinsically linear properties of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs). CNTFETs are the next step in the evolution of performance RF semiconductors, forming a broad platform technology that offers tremendous promise for improving performance, increasing battery life and reducing heat dissipation in all manner of mobile and infrastructure devices. With intrinsic power densities and high frequency performance exceeding that of conventional semiconductor devices using silicon (Si), gallium arsenide (GaAs), or other compound semiconductors, carbon nanotube devices will revolutionize radio frequency, analog, and mixed signal electronics.
The successful applicant will become part of a team collaborating with a startup company. The applicant must possess outstanding communication skills and be able to clearly communicate experimental plans and results. The applicant will be responsible for developing and optimizing fabrication processes for CNTFET devices. Working experience in a clean room is required. Knowledge of or ability to learn various processes including photolithography, thin film deposition (including atomic layer deposition), and dry/wet etching is necessary. Ability to be versatile, efficient and productive with minimal supervision or guidance is desired.
A Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, materials science or related disciplines with cleanroom experience is required.
