Position description

The UC Irvine Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Department of Otolaryngology seek a full-time ) Postdoctoral Scholar with experience in building micro medical devices that will be placed in the ear. Such devices will be used for hearing research in animals. The salary would be $54,540.00 - $61,308.00 per year based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate should have a background in biomedical engineering and will be overseeing the design and implementation of the device in an animal model and eventually humans.

• Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Device fabrication
• Encapsulation of device for implantation
• CAM/CAD/Solidworks experience
• Experience with electrical stimulation devices is preferred
• Preparation of presentations, reports, and journal/conference publications
• Assistance with grant applications as needed

Qualifications: A Ph.D. from an accredited university.

The initial appointment will be for a one-year period, with the possibility of an extension depending on performance and availability of funding. Note: Total duration of an individual’s postdoctoral service may not exceed five years, including postdoctoral service at other institutions.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

A Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science Biomedical Engineering, or closely related field, from an accredited University is required.
