Job Description
The University of California, Irvine’s Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) has an opportunity for a postdoctoral position within the laboratory of Mathew Blurton-Jones, PhD working in the area of neurodegenerative diseases. A major focus of this position will be to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, in a high-throughput manner using postmortem human brain, mouse models of disease and iPSC-derived culture systems.
Requirements
This position requires a Ph.D. degree in one of the following disciplines: Neuroscience, biochemistry, and other related fields. Candidates should have a record of completed graduate research that can be directly applied to the field of interest described above. Prior experience with transgenic models of neurodegeneration, cell culture, microscopy (including immunohistochemical techniques), biochemical techniques, qPCR, next-generation sequencing, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent laboratory skills, independence and resourcefulness. Candidates must possess strong communication and organizational skills manifested with proven track records including peer-reviewed publications. The position will be appointed at the level that is commensurate with the education and experience of the individual candidate and is for a period of one year with the possibility of renewal.
