Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care
Specialist Series – Ostlund Laboratory


The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care, University of California Irvine Health System, anticipates openings in the Specialist Series – Ostlund Laboratory (Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialists) in the field of Motivated Behavior and Addiction.

  • Junior Specialists - Should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
  • Assistant Specialists - Should possess expertise consistent with 4-6 years of training and/or experience. Should possess a Master's degree, or possession of a relevant baccalaureate degree plus 3+ yrs. of experience.
  • Associate Specialists - Should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or 5-10 yrs. of experience.
  • Specialists - Should possess a terminal degree (PhD/MD) (or equivalent degree) or 10+ yrs. of experience.

The position will conduct general laboratory research procedures, including animal behavioral testing, cardiac perfusions, and brain tissue processing. May involve other routine lab maintenance and administrative activities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess a BA/BS, Masters, PhD, or MD/PhD degree by the proposed start date.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
All applicants must have strong organizational and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Evidence of specialized research skills and approaches of past research productivity preferred.

Positions are dependent upon extramural funding and renewal is based on availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates should have relevant experience and interest but will be trained and supervised by PI and other senior lab staff.
