Position description

The Genomics Research and Technology Hub in the Department of Biological Chemistry anticipates a specialist position available in the areas of genomics, bioinformatics, and systems biology. The candidate will be responsible for development and maintenance of sequence data analysis pipelines for use with multiple applications of next generation sequencing data. Responsibilities will vary but are likely to include sequence alignment and assembly, and analysis of RNA differential gene expression, ATAC-seq and chromatin immunoprecipitation from bulk and single cell experiments. The candidate will work directly with computer scientists and biologist clients of the facility.

A degree in Computer Science or Molecular Biology or Biochemistry (or a closely related discipline) with an emphasis in Bioinformatics is preferred along with basic knowledge of molecular and genomics biology.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Junior Specialists - A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialists - A Master’s degree (or equivalent degree), or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Associate Specialists - A Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Full Specialists - A Doctoral degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
