Salary range: Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation includes AAMC salary benchmarks for Neurology ranging from $220,000.00 - $289,940.00. The posted UC salary scales set the base pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

Headache Specialist
The University of California (UC), Irvine, Department of Neurology has an outstanding full-time faculty opportunity for a board eligible/certified physician BC/BE faculty member to develop a Headache Program at UC Irvine Medical Center.
Positions are open in the non-tenure clinical track faculty position in the Health Sciences Clinical series while the second open position is expected to be at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level in the Clinical X series. Salary will be commensurate with training and experience.

The headache specialist faculty member will support the development of this comprehensive headache program and outpatient headache clinic in UCI Neurology.

There will be clinical responsibilities in the Department of Neurology including patient care, academic activities, patient education, staff education, and research.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to the care of patients with headache and will participate in specialty and interdisciplinary clinics at the University campus in Irvine and other UCI Health sites. Candidates should be highly motivated and collaborative and will combine outstanding clinical care with an academic commitment to teaching and/or clinical research. An interest in developing a clinical trials program is preferred.

Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criteria for appointment in this series.

Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.

Professional qualifications:
• An M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O., or equivalent degree with active board certification or eligibility in Neurology with fellowship training in headache.

• Eligibility to obtain an active and unrestricted medical practice license to practice in the State of California.

• Qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Neurology and hold medical staff privileges with the UCI Medical Center.

• Rank and academic track will be commensurate with candidate experience and credentials.
Personal qualifications/experience:
• Dedication to patients, their families, and providing excellent service.

• Interest and experience in working in a collaborative comprehensive neurosciences center.

• Active involvement with international, national, and/or regional professional societies preferred.

• Interests in teaching and/or clinical research/clinical trials.
