Position description

The computational research group of Ryan Hayes at UC Irvine has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral scholar (Levels 0-2). The postdoctoral scholar will develop molecular simulation methods with a rigorous basis in statistical mechanics for protein design calculations. The selected candidate will have access to campus computing facilities and extensive collaboration with the Mobley group. The position provides opportunities for theoretical development and protein design applications of methods that have longstanding utility in big pharma for computer-aided drug design of small molecules. Salary will be based on the candidate's skill set and previous experience.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Pharmacy, or a related discipline with expertise in computation, molecular dynamics simulation, and statistical mechanics. For
a further description of current research projects see https://faculty.sites.uci.edu/rhayes1/ or contact Ryan Hayes at: rhayes1@uci.edu

Responsibilities:
Run and analyze simulations to develop the multisite lambda dynamics free energy method for protein design
Scale multisite lambda dynamics simulations to larger combinatorial sequence spaces
Develop methods to focus sampling on promising sequences
Design new proteins in collaboration with experimental laboratories

Application Procedure: Applicants need to upload their curriculum vitae, cover letter describing research accomplishments and future career plans, and contact information for at least three references to our online
