Position description

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to serve as the Director of Gynecological Pathology. The academic appointment may be in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on experience and extent of research and teaching effort. Both HS and Clinical X faculty provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities. Clinical X faculty are expected to conduct more substantial research and have demonstrated excellence in teaching. An academic appointment in the Clinical X series confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate.

Applicants must have significant experience and/or fellowship training in gynecologic pathology, hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree, and must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and be eligible for, or currently hold, a medical license in the state of California. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, a strong interest in service activities, a commitment to education, and a record in clinical and/or translational research that may be collaborative in nature. The candidate will be responsible for clinical services in gynecological and surgical pathology, including on-call duty, service on departmental and hospital committees, and teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.

The base salary range for this position is $$265,443 - $390,456. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

This position will serve the needs of the 400+-bed state-of-the-art tertiary/quaternary care Douglas hospital located in the city of Orange, a new hospital and outpatient complex on the Irvine campus, and several outpatient clinics throughout Orange County.

UCI Health is the only academic medical center in Orange County.

Requirements - All applicants must have significant experience and/or fellowship training in gynecological pathology, must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and must hold or qualify for a medical license in the State of California. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
