Assistant Professor in Early Childhood and Human Development

DESCRIPTION

The School of Education at the University of California, Irvine is carrying out a search for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of early childhood and human development. We invite applicants with outstanding research trajectories in early childhood development, education, policy or intervention, with training in any of the range of disciplines and methodological approaches related to this field.

The School of Education has a strong cadre of faculty in this area, and we are aiming to expand our expertise in early childhood as one of the core priorities of our school’s strategic plan. The landscape of early childhood is changing rapidly across the country—and particularly within California with the state’s expansion of Universal Transitional Kindergarten education for all four-year-old children. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to our state’s increasing need for early learning research and for equitably expanding early childhood opportunities. The School of Education also has outstanding undergraduate, CalTeach, Ph.D., and MAT teacher education programs; the candidate will be expected to teach in at least two of them.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) by July 1, 2024 and a record of scholarship, teaching and mentorship, and service commensurate to their career stage.
