Position description

The Center for Embedded Systems and Cyber-Physical Systems (CECS) at the UC Irvine anticipates the availability of a postdoctoral scholar-employee position to join Prof. Mohammad Al Faruque’s research group (https://aicps.eng.uci.edu). Al Faruque’s research group pursues several projects related to cyber-physical systems security, embedded systems security, and hardware security. The current projects include research and development of cyber-physical vulnerabilities for various CPS systems, like drones, automobiles, autonomous systems, manufacturing systems, power grid systems, etc. The lab is also developing hardware/software co-design methods and tolls for tackling cross-layer cyber-physical vulnerabilities and attacks. Desired areas of expertise include embedded systems design, hardware/software co-design, machine learning, design automation, embedded software analysis, hardware knowledge including embedded GPUs, ARM and RISC-V based platforms, FPGA, and computer programming (C++ and/or Python). The successful candidate must possess excellent writing skills and be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are preferred.

Qualifications

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field, such as computer science/engineering, electrical engineering, embedded and cyber-physical systems, from an accredited university.
