Position description

The Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing seeks a Postdoctoral researcher in Cardiovascular Signal Anonymization to join the Rahmani lab.

An interdisciplinary team of researchers at the University of California, Irvine, undertake a research project titled Safeguarding Privacy of Cardiovascular Waveforms through Reinforcement Learning-Guided Generative Models. Key research tasks include (i) data utility-aware cardiovascular bio-signal de-identification using reinforcement learning (RL) guided generative models and (ii) developing a comprehensive evaluation framework for analyzing utility and anonymity to update the generative models accordingly. Successful candidates will join the vibrant and interdisciplinary HealthSciTech group at UCI, which bridges AI/ML, health informatics, software engineering, systems design, and nursing, along with collaborative research support from Institute for Future Health (IFH) at UCI.

The successful Postdoctoral candidate will be responsible for:
● Designing and validating generative AI models for bio-signal de-identification, and reinforcement learning models for latent space pruning to guide the generative de-identification models
● Collaborating with clinical consultants to evaluate and update the de-identification generative models
● Mentoring graduate/PhD students involved in the project
● Dissemination of results through scientific publications in leading conference journals

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

PhD degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, Computers and Information Systems (Engineering), Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field

Knowledge of reinforcement learning and generative AI models; experience with AI-driven healthcare applications, affective computing, cognitive modeling; robust and efficient systems design
