Pediatric Neonatology Research -Clinical X Series, Associate or Professor Rank
The University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics in partnership with the Children’ Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), invites applications from PhD, MD, or MD-PhD board-certified/eligible Pediatric Neonatology who will be instrumental in expanding research efforts and clinical practice within the Department of Pediatrics.
This position will have a full-time academic appointment in the UC Irvine Department of Pediatrics and will be involved in resident teaching and mentoring. There is opportunity to expand pediatric research at UC Irvine and be a part of their active and successful Pediatric team. Responsibilities will include scholarly activities related to the funded research efforts that must be brought to this position. Clinical duties will be related to each division's responsibilities and negotiated with the Division Chief to fulfil the remainder of the full-time allocation in addition to the protected funded research effort. Candidates may apply from any division within the Department of Pediatrics, with strengths in neonatology, hospitalist medicine, endocrinology, oncology, cardiology, neurology and infectious disease. The successful candidate is anticipated to bring independent research funds to support their research efforts and protected time.
The full-time academic appointment may be at the Associate, or Full Professor level in the Clinical X series, depending on experience and extent of research effort. Clinical X appointments confer membership in the UCI Academic Senate.
Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criteria for appointment in this series.
