Position description

The UCI Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Project Scientist in the laboratory of Professor Chang Liu. The duties of the position are to 1) carry out a project developing a system for rapid antibody evolution (60%), 2) coordinate collaborative projects with labs at UCI and other institutions involving antibody evolution and engineering for biological applications such as therapeutic protein discovery and pandemic prevention (30%), and 3) lead annual workshops on antibody evolution at UCI (10%). The initial appointment will be full-time for a 24-month period with the expectation for renewal based on performance.

Requirements: A PhD in biomedical engineering or related field; research experience in synthetic biology, yeast genetics, protein engineering, or related fields; excellent interpersonal and organization skills; and strong communication (oral and written) skills are required.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
