Position description

For the 2024-25 academic year, the School of Education may have a need for a temporary, part-time science instructor. The instructor would be responsible for teaching a discussion section in fall of 2024 and co-teaching 2 student teaching lecture sections in the winter and spring of 2025. The courses include the modeling and unpacking of social justice, culturally responsive, NGSS aligned lessons, student lesson design and teaching, and supporting students as they navigate student teaching and complete the edTPA. The workload is 1.5 units (12.5%) in fall, and 3 units (25%) per quarter in winter and spring. Classes meet 10 times per quarter, in the evenings.

Service Period Dates for 2024-2025 Academic Year:
Fall Quarter: 9/23/24-12/13/24
Winter Quarter: 1/2/25 - 3/21/25
Spring Quarter: 3/26/25 – 6/13/25

Minimum Qualifications:
California teaching credential in science.
At least 5 years of grade 6-12 science teaching experience.
Relevant experience may be considered.

Desired Qualifications:
A master’s degree in education or relevant content area.
Experience mentoring or teaching pre-service teachers.
Experience developing curriculum and providing professional development in curriculum design.

Salary:

Annual full-time salaries will begin at a base rate of $66,259.
