Position description

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to join our team as a Specialist (Assistant or Associate level depending on experience). This position will support multiple NIH and foundation-funded neuroscience research in Dr. Xiangmin Xu's lab and Center for Neural Circuit Mapping (CNCM). They will work directly with the Principal Investigator (PI) to oversee and actively contribute to research projects relevant to their expertise, making a direct impact on the progression and publication of neuroscience research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the oversight, design, execution, and analysis of experiments, leveraging your expertise to contribute innovative ideas and methodologies
  • Lead and organize project meetings in collaboration with other team members to support and advance ongoing neuroscience research projects funded by the NIH and various foundations
  • May assist in the writing, editing, and submission of research materials
  • Engage in collaborative discussions and scientific presentations, such as conferences, to share research findings with the broader scientific community.
  • Report directly to PI of any issues or concerns related to project progress, funds, etc.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Assistant Specialists - Appointees to the Assistant rank should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree), or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Associate Specialists - Appointees to the Associate rank should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Associate Specialists are normally expected to have a record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.
