Position description
The Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology anticipates openings in the Specialist Series at the Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialist rank.
Applications are being sought from recent B.S., M.S., M.D., and Ph.D. graduates in the field of Ophthalmology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology or equivalent. Interdisciplinary skills and approaches in Immunology, Microbiology, Pathology, and/or Neuroscience are strongly desired. The incumbent will be expected to perform research in a specialized area, provide university and public service, and demonstrate professional competency and activity.
This is an ongoing recruitment. Positions are dependent on extramural funding.
Rank and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a B.S., M.S., M.D., or Ph.D. in the field of Ophthalmology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or equivalent.

Qualifications
Applicants must possess a B.S., M.S., M.D., or Ph.D. in the field of Ophthalmology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or equivalent.
Junior Specialist - Appointees to the Junior rank should possess a bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialist - Appointees to the Assistant rank should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree), or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Associate Specialist - Appointees to the Associate rank should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Specialist (Full Rank) - Appointees to the Full rank should possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization
