Position description
Position: Specialist Series Open Ranks
The Department of Radiology at the University of California, Irvine anticipates openings for Junior, Assistant, Associate, and full Specialists.
We are currently accepting applications from candidates with a robust training background in imaging instrumentation or image algorithm development. Individuals with expertise in ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging are strongly encouraged to apply. This is an ongoing recruitment. Positions are dependent on extramural funding. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal will be dependent on availability of support. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Junior Specialist: Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialist: Master’s degree or relevant Bachelors degree plus 3 or more years of research experience.
Associate Specialist: Master’s degree or 5 to 10 years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Specialist: MD or PhD or 10 or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.

The University of California, Irvine, Medical Center is located in Orange, California and is the only level I trauma center in the region. The hospital is an NCI-designated cancer center with multidisciplinary research opportunities available. The department performs over 220,000 examinations per year and has 30 full-time and part-time faculty. All imaging equipment is state of the art. The department has active multidisciplinary collaborations with other services. The section provides CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy/radiography imaging services; invasive procedures are performed separately by the interventional radiology section. The UC Irvine Medical Center is a 450-bed acute care and tertiary referral facility.
Orange County is world-renowned for its natural beauty, perfect year round climate, gorgeous locales on the Pacific Ocean and incomparable recreational opportunities. Great cultural opportunities abound in Orange County as well as in nearby Los Angeles and San Diego counties.
Qualifications
