Position:
The University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine, Department of Urology anticipates openings in the Postdoctoral Scholar position(s) non-senate.
Basic Qualifications: Candidates require a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D.) or the foreign equivalent.
Applications are being sought from graduates in the field of cancer biology, biochemistry, microbiology or equivalent. The position will perform experiments on one of the following projects 1) Ethnicity-determined T cell responses and GARP/TGFbeta1 signaling in prostate cancer, 2) Stromal metabolism differences between African American and European American prostate cancer, 3) Wnt signaling in castration resistant prostate cancer, and 4) Basic and Translational Mechanisms of Cancer Initiation of the Urothelium in Veterans Exposed to Carcinogens: Interception of tobacco smoking related bladder cancer by an epigenetic approach under the direction of Dr. Xiaolin Zi (xzi@hs.uci.edu). Dr. Zi’s lab has developed unique resources of primary cultures of prostate carcinoma associated fibroblasts and organoids from a relatively large number of clinical specimens, as well as a limited number of prostate cancer patient derived xenograft (PDX) models. The position provides career development opportunities dependent on self-motivation and productivity.
