Position description
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Irvine anticipates openings in the Specialist Series at the Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialists.
Specialists may engage in any specialized research, professional activity, and University and/or public service. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise of the University and to achieve recognition in the professional and scientific community. Specialists may participate in university and/or public service depending upon the funding source and the duties required by the job description for the position.
This is an ongoing recruitment. Positions are dependent on extramural funding. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal will be dependent on the availability of support. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
Laboratory research background.
Junior Specialist: Should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialist: Should possess a master’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) or five years of research experience.
Associate Specialist: Should possess a master’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) or five to 10 years of research experience.
Specialist: Should possess a terminal degree (or foreign equivalent degree) or ten or more years of research experience.
