Position description
The UCI Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking applicants for the Point of Care Ultrasound Fellowship program for the 2025 - 2026 academic year. Clinical fellows will hold a Health Sciences Clinical Instructor title.
The UCI Medical Center is a Level I Trauma center with 5,000 runs/year and a 50,000 ED census. The Department's Division of Emergency Ultrasound was established in 2001. The Director is fellowship trained, as well as two additional faculty, and a fully integrated 4-year medical student ultrasound curriculum is established. The clinical schedule is 72 hours per month, including the opportunity to utilize ultrasound in a critical access hospital on Catalina Island. In addition, 1,000 scans/year are anticipated along with video review of 6,000 more in a research, teaching and clinical environment.
DUTIES: Clinical professional competency and excellent patient care; teaching and advisement to residents, medical students and other relevant academic learners; scholarly and creative activities applicable to fellowship; and university and public service.
Applicant must be eligible to obtain a California Medical License, California DEA registration, UCI Medical Staff Privileges and Board Certification in Emergency Medicine by the start date.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on availability of support.
Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. degree; completion of an ACGME accredited Emergency Medicine Residency training program.
