Position description
Specialist Series openings for Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Specialists are occasionally available throughout the year in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine.
Applications are sought from candidates with a B.S. and/or B.A., M.S., Ph. D or MD degree with a strong laboratory research background, publications, and specialized training in biology, biomedical sciences, or related fields. This is an ongoing recruitment. Positions are dependent on extramural funding. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal will be dependent on availability of support. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
Junior Specialist
Appointees to the Junior rank should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
Assistant Specialist
Appointees to the Assistant rank should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Associate Specialist
Appointees to the Associate rank should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
Specialist
Appointees to the full Specialist rank should possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
