Position description
The Department of Surgery is seeking a full-time surgeon to join the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery in the Health Sciences Clinical Series at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor Level.
We expect the successful candidate to have excellence in clinical care, teaching, scholarly activity with a high likelihood of obtaining extramural funding, and strong commitment to mentorship, and diversity, inclusion, and equity. Faculty rank and series will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
Candidates should have an MD or equivalent and/or MD/ PhD with board certification/ eligibility in General Surgery and fellowship trained in Gastrointestinal Surgery.
The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
Faculty rank and series will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Candidates should have an MD or MD/ PhD with board certification/ eligibility in General Surgery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
M.D. or equivalent and/or M.D./Ph.D.
Board Certified (eligible) General Surgery
Fellowship trained in Gastrointestinal Surgery
Significant demonstrated interest in teaching and future research collaboration

Qualifications
M.D. or equivalent and/or M.D./Ph.D., board certification or board eligibility in specialty, eligible to obtain a California DEA license and a California Medical License. The incumbent will participate in delivering patient care in an academic clinical setting, teach residents and medical students in clinical programs, and perform University and public service.
