Position description
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine anticipates openings for a full-time faculty position in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor level.
We are seeking for Sports Medicine Physician who is board certified in either Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Candidate must have a strong commitment to medical education, which will include teaching in the UCI School of Medicine and precepting medical students in clinic, as well as participating in the of education of Family Medicine or Internal Medicine residents and primary care sports medicine fellows. This recruitment is for a Sports Medicine / Family Physician in an ambulatory practice.
Duties: The incumbent will participate in patient care, teach residents and students, perform university and public service, and demonstrate professional competency and activity.
Desired Skills: Procedural competency (musculoskeletal injections/procedures, sports ultrasound, family medicine ambulatory procedures). Team physician and event coverage experience. Leadership experience. Interest in scholarly activities. Proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Korean.
Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
Requirements: Applications are being sought from candidates who possess M.D. or D.O. degrees. Candidates who have completed a sports medicine fellowship or are currently in a sports fellowship are eligible to apply. Sports Medicine Physician who is board certified in either Family Medicine or Internal Medicine can also apply. Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the Medical Board of California. American Board of Family Medicine/Internal Medicine Certification, and Sports Medicine Board Certification or eligibility is required. Candidates must have demonstrated capabilities for teaching, professional service and/or research suitable to the HS Clinical Professor series.
