Position description

The Department of Dance, Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for a part-time lecturer in Dance Science.

The successful candidate will teach a large, introductory level, general education lecture asynchronous course on scientific concepts of health to dance majors and non-majors. The candidate is expected to have knowledge of scientific foundations of health, and be able to emphasize those aspects of health that pertain to success in college and a lifetime of wellness. The course should include principles of cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, flexibility, and nutritional fitness. The instructor is expected to offer a variety of learning experiences for applying science to life situations.

The course will be offered for one quarter (Spring, 10 weeks each). The Spring Quarter begins March 25, 2026. Salary will commensurate with teaching experience and level of education. Appointments may be made at varying percentages of time.

Minimum qualifications: A Master's or Ph.D. in kinesiology, exercise science, health sciences, or a closely related field. Related fields may include but are not limited to: public health, sports medicine, physical therapy, rehabilitation science, biomechanics, human performance, nutrition, physiology, health education, or other relevant disciplines. University teaching experience required.
