Position description
Postdoctoral Scholar position in the Jin Laboratory in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics, School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine .
Applications are sought from candidates with PhD degree with background in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, structural biology, or related fields, along with a genuine passion for protein structure–function relationships and a desire to innovate at the intersection of basic science and translational medicine.
The postdoctoral Scholar will drive NIH-funded research to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of bacterial virulence factors in cellular contexts and translate these discoveries into macromolecular drug development, including antibodies, vaccines, and innovative medical cosmetics. The Jin lab employs a multidisciplinary approach, integrating Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), X-ray crystallography, and other advanced biochemical, biophysical & cell biology assays.
The Jin laboratory has established long-standing international collaborations in cell biology, toxicology, dermatology, and aesthetic medicine, with complementary research in animal disease models, creating a rich and collaborative research environment.
Position is dependent on extramural funding. Initial appointments are for two years, and renewal will be dependent on availability of support. Salary will be based on University of California guidelines for the Postdoctoral scholars and will commensurate with experience.
