Position description
The University of California, Irvine, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is inviting applications for a full-time position at the Assistant Professor level. The academic appointment will be in the In-Residence series, which confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate.
Applicants should have an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology and Neuropathology, and eligible for a California medical license. In addition, applicants must have significant research experience and a publication record in human neuropathology with a focus on neurodegeneration. Experience with additional molecular and cellular biological approaches and translational research is preferred. Ideal candidates will have experience in an Alzheimer Disease Research Center setting. The candidate will be provided with 80% time for independent research and 20% time on the clinical neuropathology service in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.
Candidates with extramural funding or competitive applications for mentored or independent awards, particularly from the federal government, are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is also expected to have excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, commitments to teaching and mentoring, and a desire to serve.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant and growing health system and department with initiatives in multiple areas, including precision omics, lab test innovation, and test translation to the clinic.
