Position description
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology is seeking Family Medicine/Internal Medicine/Preventive Medicine candidates for a full-time faculty position as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor (level depending on experience) for an In-Residence position. The Division is housed in the department of Family Medicine.
The division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology is home to faculty, fellows, and staff who have a passion for patient care, medical education, research and community health. Our mission, as a department in the UCI School of Medicine, is to Discover, Teach, Heal and Serve. We are committed to delivering exemplary clinical care, teaching health professionals and research to promote health and well-being for older adults.
Our division includes Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, and psychologists, comprising a team-based approach to Geriatric medicine, as well as researchers and dedicated staff. Geriatricians provide care in many environments including UCI Health’s Orange SeniorHealth Center, Laguna Hills specialty care, Irvine’s Gottschalk Plaza, and affiliated skilled nursing facilities as well as home care. The Division has been awarded major grants and donor funds to improve the health of seniors through education, innovative clinical care and research. We offer an outstanding Geriatric Fellowship with three fellows annually.
REQUIREMENTS: M.D., MD/PhD or D.O. from an accredited institution with appropriate clinical training and experience. Board certification in Family Medicine/ Internal Medicine/Preventive Medicine and strong interest in Geriatric Medicine; excellent clinical skills; interest in clinical teaching; eligibility for UC Irvine Medical Center medical staff privileges required. Candidate must have demonstrated capabilities for teaching, professional services and research suitable for the In-Residence series.
PRACTICE INFORMATION: We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring physician to join an interdisciplinary outpatient practice at a UCI Health geriatric care site. The academic clinician will join the In-Residence faculty series with clinical care and research responsibilities. Our goal is to provide superb medical care for a diverse patient population. Outpatient practice is a teaching site for all levels of academic learners. This position includes a research role in collaboration with the UCI MIND center for Alzheimer disease and related dementia (ADRD) research.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop research linking clinical practice for older adults to research in dementia prevention and treatment.
• Collaborate with faculty in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Population Health, and MIND to develop interdisciplinary education.
• Participate in local, national and international geriatric associations and organizations
• Ambulatory patient care practice
• Fellow supervision, residency teaching, and precepting medical students
