Position description
The Henry Samueli School of Engineering may have need for one or more Unit 18 Faculty Lecturers to teach the following course in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program during the 2026-2027 academic year:
ENGR 190W - Communications in the Professional World is an upper-division technical writing course for students with junior or senior standing in Engineering. This interdisciplinary course is taught by an integrated team of lecturers who focus on student learning in techniques for technical and scientific writing, preparing and delivering oral presentations, and the art of communicating technical information to the technical and non-technical public. Professional engineering standards, ethics, and intellectual property are also covered. Minimum requirements are an B.S./B.A. in Communications, English, Engineering, or Science, and experience teaching a similar course or experience in positions requiring technical writing as a major responsibility. This course must fulfill the upper-division writing requirements and the required assessment of student outcomes. As an integrated team, all instructors will collaborate, share, and evaluate samples and report data for all courses taught.
