Position description
The Department of Medicine at UCI School of Medicine invites applications and nominations for a nationally recognized academic physician to serve as the Chief of the UCI Division of Hospital Medicine and Palliative Medicine.
The UCI Division of Hospital Medicine and Palliative Medicine comprises a distinguished cohort of 65 faculty members across the full spectrum of clinical care, research, and education. The UC Irvine Division of Hospital Medicine & Palliative Medicine began as the School of Medicine’s Hospitalist Program, which was founded in 1998 and was one of the nation’s first. Our growing and dynamic division focuses on providing excellent clinical care, education and training. We are well known for our innovative approaches to quality-of-care improvement and patient safety, two areas in which UCI Medical Center ranks among the best in the country
Candidates must hold a MD, DO, MBBS, MD/PhD or equivalent, have appropriate academic credentials for a tenured faculty appointment, be board‐certified in Internal Medicine, and be eligible for licensure in California.
• Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is essential criteria for appointment in this series.
• Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
Qualifications
• MD, DO, MBBS or MD/PhD degree or equivalent
• Board certification in Internal Medicine
• Be eligible for, or currently hold, a medical license in the state of California.
• Meet requirements for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as section chief, division chief or other relevant leadership role
