Position description

The Department of Criminology, Law & Society at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Teaching position. This is a full-time faculty position with the potential for security of employment, designed for individuals who wish to focus their careers on teaching, professional activities, and University and public service. Appointment, merit, and promotion in the Professor of Teaching series requires, in addition to excellence in teaching and service, that the candidate makes outstanding and externally recognized contributions in research/creative activity in pedagogy and/or the discipline. Salary is commensurate with experience. This is an Academic Senate position within the University of California, with benefits of Senate membership, including eligibility for UCI’s attractive faculty housing programs, medical and retirement benefits.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the department of Criminology, Law & Society, and conduct the highest quality research at a rate that reflects their teaching focus. We are especially interested in faculty who can offer courses in juvenile justice, gender, evaluation, white collar crime, social stratification, public policy, human rights, democracy and global affairs. The ideal candidate will be an expert in pedagogical technologies and a skilled mentor, and will serve as a bridge between our department and the Social Ecology Hub for Innovative Education (SE-Hive)

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or comparable advanced degree.
