Position description
We are seeking exceptional, visionary researchers to apply for a prestigious, fully funded two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Krzysztof Palczewski. Designed as a definitive launchpad for an independent academic career, this distinguished fellowship empowers scientists to drive transformative advancements in our understanding of eye diseases and complex visual systems.
This fellowship supports bold, interdisciplinary research focused on the biology and pathology of the visual system. We challenge candidates to bridge disciplines and leverage diverse, cutting-edge methodologies—including chemical, biochemical, structural biology, and genetic techniques—to unravel the interconnected systems of the eye and beyond.
Fellows will lead high-impact projects tackling multifactorial vision disorders through advanced technologies, including:
• Gene Therapy: Targeting underlying genetic pathways to halt or reverse disease progression.
• Regenerative Medicine: Developing novel approaches to restore compromised tissue and visual function.
• Advanced Imaging: Visualizing ocular biology with unprecedented clarity to accelerate the development of comprehensive clinical treatments.
You will be conducting your research in the highly collaborative Palczewski Lab and will be formally affiliated with the Brunson Center for Translational Vision Research. You will be joining a diverse, world-class cohort of scientists and clinicians united by a single, urgent mission: understanding and curing visual disorders. By actively broadening its research focus across medical disciplines, the Center fosters the kind of cross-pollinated collaborations that lead to true scientific breakthroughs.
