Position description
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to serve as the Director of Breast Pathology. The academic appointment may be in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on experience and extent of research and teaching effort. Both HS and Clinical X faculty provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities. Clinical X faculty are expected to conduct more substantial research and have demonstrated excellence in teaching. An academic appointment in the Clinical X series confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate
Applicants must have significant experience and/or fellowship training in general pathology and breast pathology, hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree, must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and be eligible for, or currently hold, a medical license in the state of California. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal and managerial skills, a strong interest in service activities, a commitment to education, and a record in clinical and/or translational research that may be collaborative in nature. The candidate will be responsible for clinical services in breast pathology as well as general surgical pathology, including on-call duty, service on departmental and hospital committees, and teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.
The university academic base salaries as to rank and step can be found here. However, for this position the total negotiated salary uses AAMC salary benchmarks for Anatomic Pathology ranging from $280,499 - $402,738. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
This position will serve the needs of UCI Health which include the 400+ bed state-of-the-art tertiary/quaternary care Douglas hospital located in the city of Orange, a new hospital and outpatient complex on the Irvine campus, and several outpatient clinics throughout Orange County.
