Assistant or Associate Professor in Environmental Planning and Policy

The Department of Planning, Policy, and Design at UC Irvine invites applications from productive scholars whose research addresses economic and fiscal aspects of environmental planning and policy. The topical area of focus is open, but candidates with research interests in the following areas are of particular interest: evaluation of the economic, environmental, and social justice implications of plans and policies, natural resource and environmental hazards management, and climate change and sustainable development policy. The ideal candidate will contribute to environmental dimensions of our planning, policy and urban studies curriculum and be able teach courses in the areas of natural resources management, urban ecology, environmental impacts of urbanization, fiscal policy, and/or economic analysis of policies and plans. The successful candidate for this tenure-track position will have a Ph.D. in Economics, Planning, Policy or a closely-related field. A track record of external funding is desired.

Faculty members in the Department of Planning, Policy, and Design rank in the top ten in scholarly productivity among all U.S. planning programs. We have research strengths in land use and transportation, inequality and economic opportunity, housing and community development, environmental and natural resource planning, urban design behavior, international development, and regional governance. The department offers a Ph.D. degree in Planning, Policy, and Design, a Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree, a collaborative Master of Public Policy degree, and an undergraduate degree in Urban Studies.
